Nothing is more practical than finding God, than falling in Love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination, will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the morning, what you do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, whom you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in Love, stay in love, and it will decide everything. —Joseph Whelan, SJ |
The Ignatians West model is built on three pillars of service, community, and reflection:
ServiceOur volunteers serve the needs of their local communities one or two days per week. We work with a wide variety of partner agencies across Southern California.
|
ReflectionOnce a month, from September through June, volunteers gather to share and reflect on their experiences in light of the Gospel, Catholic Social Teaching, and Ignatian Spirituality.
|
CommunityOver time, friendships and strong bonds are formed among our volunteers. Much love, laughter—and food—are routinely shared.
|
We invite you to join us in our work--and in our joy—either by becoming a volunteer, hosting a volunteer at your nonprofit agency, and/or providing financial support to Ignatians West!
I have been inspired by the other volunteers' work carried on in a true Christian spirit of love and giving. |
I have learned that we are all God's creatures - that the first shall be last and the last shall be first. |
I love that this group strengthens me in my spiritual journey. There is so much wisdom and faith in our meetings. |
Working in the spiritual care community is so enlightening. I am improving my ability to see with the eyes of my heart. |
