Madonna Della Strada Gala

Every autumn, Ignatians West holds a special gala to celebrate the accomplishments of our partner agencies and our volunteers.  As part of that gala, we typically single out for particular honors a few persons and/or agencies whose work both greatly serves the Southern California community and aligns with the Jesuit charism:  the Jesuit charism, rooted in Ignatian spirituality, is a distinctive way of living and working that emphasizes finding God in all things, seeking justice, and being "men and women for others." It's a call to discern God's will, to adapt to the needs of the times, and to serve the Church and the world.

We’ve named our annual gala in honor of the Madonna Della Strada to acknowledge St. Ignatius’s attachment to the Virgin Mary and also his solicitude for the particular early 16th century painting of her that hung in the Jesuits’ first pastoral home base in Rome.

We hope that you will be able to join us for the Madonna Della Strada celebration.  It is always a festive, fun, and inspiring event!

Madonna Della Strada 2025

On Sunday, November 9th, some 250 of our favorite folks gathered at the Huffington Center in Los Angeles to celebrate the work of Ignatians West and its wonderful volunteers.  Our particular honorees for the night were the National Catholic Reporter, represented by its CEO and Publisher, Joe Ferullo; Sister Simone Campbell; and Deacon Kevin McCardle. All three of our illustrious honorees inspired us with their dedication to telling the truth and to making life better for the least among us.

We hope to see you at the 2026 gala.  In the mean time, please enjoy these few photos of our wonderful evening.
