Healthcare workers, the saints of our time, continue to serve with courage and dedication knowing they are exposed regularly to a wily virus that can harm them and their families. Jesus tells them, 'I am here, come to me.'
As we acknowledge and celebrate the anniversary of our country’s independence it is more important than ever to note the words etched on the Statue of Liberty. They mirror those of Jesus: “Give me your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…send these, the homeless tempest-lost to me…” This, too, is an invitation.
As people of faith and responsible citizens we are invited to care for each other and particularly for those burdened, homeless, and “yearning to breathe”, a phrase with new meaning in this era of renewed attention to racial inequity. How faith influences our actions at this pivotal time in the history of our country will make a difference.
Ignatians West Board of Directors
The work of Ignatians West is carried out by volunteers who fan out over the greater Los Angeles area. It is also carried out through the work of our Board of Directors who are also volunteers. Over the next few weeks we will highlight individual board members.
