Heather Preimesberger
Heather has been an active volunteer with Ignatians West for well over a decade. With a smile, she says that each passing year brings more fulfillment to her life. She cites this past year of service, working with two priests and a Jesuit brother, as particularly meaningful.
Heather assists at St. Camillus Center for Spiritual Care, which serves LAC/USC County General Hospital. She hand-writes donor thank-you notes and over this past year made altar cloths for the remodeled chapel. She also designs and creates quilted wall hangings to accompany art pieces in the chapel. It is work she loves and does with ease and brilliance. She is also known for baking dozens of delicious cookies for various events at St. Camillus.
At Blessed Sacrament, the Jesuit parish in Hollywood, Heather collaborated with Brother Henry Perez, founder and director of Genevieve’s Garden, tracking the number of people served lunch
and offering a place to rest each weekday from noon to 2:00. The program offers a good meal and a quiet sanctuary for people challenged with living on the street.
In addition to all of this, for the past four years, Heather has worked with Fr. Felix Llanera, SJ to design and sew magisteriums, the cloths used in the Jesuit ordination ceremony. The handwork to create these cloths is time consuming as it requires embroidering the name of each man to be ordained in white silk floss on fine white Irish linen. As Heather sews, she prays for the men approaching ordination. And it is ALWAYS a special treat when Heather bakes something delicious for the monthly volunteer meetings!
